Waddington Alley, connecting the lower ends of Johnson and Yates Street, is the last “wooden street” in Victoria.  It was first built in 1858 by Alfred Waddington of old-growth Douglas Fir and was later restored in 1992.  Rehabilitation of the century-old buildings took place, the most recent being Morley’s Soda Water Factory.

The alley is a festive scene at night with strings of lights hanging at the north end, music from Friend's of Dorothy to keep you entertained and world-class Italian food from Il Terrazzo.

Paved with wooden blocks and lined with century-old buildings, Waddington Alley is the closest modern walkers can get to an authentic turn-of-the-century street.
